Terms of Use
Effective September 16, 2026
These terms govern your use of Our Home, a personal budgeting app operated by an individual in Canada. By signing in or using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
What Our Home is
Our Home lets you import bank transaction exports, sort them into categories, set monthly budgets, and see how your spending compares. It is a free personal project, not a bank, a financial institution, or a regulated financial service.
Not financial advice
Everything the app shows is a calculation over the data you upload. Totals, trends, and budget figures are for your own information only and are not financial, tax, legal, or investment advice. Always verify balances and transactions against your bank's own records, and consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.
Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old to use Our Home.
- Provide an email address you control and keep your password secret.
- You are responsible for everything that happens under your account. Tell us right away if you believe someone else has accessed it.
- One account per person. Do not share credentials.
Your data
You own the information you enter or upload. You give us permission to store and process it only as needed to run the app for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. In turn, you confirm that:
- You have the right to upload the transaction data you import. Do not upload another person's bank records without their permission.
- Any household members you name know that their names and attributed spending are recorded in your account.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of what you upload and for reviewing the results before relying on them.
Acceptable use
Do not:
- Attempt to access another user's account or data.
- Probe, scan, or test the app or its infrastructure for vulnerabilities without written permission.
- Use automated tools to scrape the app or place unreasonable load on it.
- Use the app for anything unlawful.
Availability and changes
Our Home is offered as a personal project. We may change, suspend, or shut down any part of it at any time, with or without notice, and make no promise of uptime or of preserving any particular feature. If we shut the service down, we will make reasonable efforts to give you notice and time to export or request your data first.
Ending your use
You can stop using Our Home whenever you like and ask us to delete your account by emailing the address below. We may suspend or delete accounts that break these terms or that we reasonably believe pose a security risk.
Disclaimer of warranties
Our Home is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted operation. Bank export formats change without notice, and an import may be incomplete or mis-parsed.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, including financial decisions made in reliance on figures shown in the app, lost data, or lost profits. Because the app is free, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid to use it, which is nothing. Some provinces do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Ontario.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the new version will be posted here with an updated effective date. Continuing to use the app after that date means you accept the new terms.
